Tarpley, Texas is a small town on FM 470, fifteen minutes from Bandera, and only a little over an hour from San Antonio and a bit over two from Austin.
Williams Creek runs through the town, perfect for setting your chair and your toes in, and nearby, some of the country's finest dude ranches. Visitors can also relax and enjoy themselves at one of the Hill Country's top eateries.
Mac & Ernie's Roadside Eatery is a famous Hill Country stop. The cuisine is top-notch, and the setting next to the Williams Creek Depot, where you can buy your drinks or wine and sit at picnic tables, allows for one of the most unique, charming evenings one can spend.
Bandera, Texas, is the Cowboy Capital of the World. It's one of the most fun towns around. With only 957 official inhabitants, it boasts more things to do on a weekend than you'll have time for. So you'll just have to come on back!
The Bandera Saloon, in the heart of Old Bandera, offers a classic saloon setting and a porch overlooking Main Street...where you can watch the cows stroll by. With a full liquor bar, the Bandera Saloon provides live music every weekend. Join the Bandera Saloon for its "Bloodies and The Blues" Sundays on the porch.
The famous Arkey Blue's Silver Dollar, an original Texas honky tonk, is open every evening behind the red door on Main Street. Watch your step going downstairs, please! The 11th Street Cowboy Bar is a classic stop on the way, along with the Frontier Times Museum and picturesque Bandera Courthouse. There's more than a dozen good restaurants in town, and you can pick up all your western wear at The Cowboy Store on Main Street.
Many weekends are special event weekends, thanks to the community, the Chamber of Commerce and the Bandera Business Association. Bandera's Riverfest, Memorial Weekend PRCA Rodeo, July Fourth Picnic, Celebrate Bandera, Hunters Weekend, Christmas on Main...there's always something great going on.
